A protective helmet or ballistic helmet is designed to protect the head, primarily from: fragments of standard engineering ammunition, damage to the parietal, occipital, frontal and temporal parts of the head from small arms bullets, mechanical damage (impacts, etc.), is an element of combat equipment and is included in composition of personal armor protection equipment. According to their goals and objectives, they are divided into tactical, anti-shock, and sapper.
Tactical helmets, as a rule, are structurally complemented by various kinds of fastenings: Picatinny rails for various accessories, side arches for tactical headphones, tactical flashlights, optoelectronic devices, a bulletproof visor, for night vision devices, for helmet-mounted video cameras and personal identification devices for strobe lights.
Also, tactical helmets can be divided into several types: metal (titanium and so on), Kevlar, carbon, and in addition: closed (with ear protection), half-open and fully open.
